Aye Carumba! Dane is turning ONE!

This weekend was Dane's first birthday party. What a fantastic time we all had! Due to the rain and cold weather (of course), the fiesta had to be moved from my parents' house to Dalcorp. Dalcorp is my dad's car museum in Monrovia where he not only has some of the most pristinely restored autos on display, but also where he houses a mind numbing amount of memorabilia covering the walls from ceiling to floor. It was a perfect back up place to have Dane's party. A big thank you, not only to my parents for allowing us to make their Memorial Day weekend truly "memorable," but also to all the people who came to be a part of Dane's big day. I know that holiday weekends are especially hectic, so please know that Mike and I appreciate all the love.

Below you will find some pictures from the big day. Although Dane doesn't officially turn one until Thursday, May 29, he partied like a big boy! He was smiling the whole time and never even took his afternoon nap! I don't know whether it was the cake or the excitement of the day, but he was wired for sure. I've included some of the highlights of the party. We took so many pictures and I wish I could include them all. Enjoy the show and thanks again for being a part of our memories!

The setup. Here is Dane's chair - the HEADER CHAIR!

I decided to make a chili pepper cake, a cactus cake and a sombrero cake. They turned out great!

Aunt Kim and Dane starting the day off with an "AYE AYE AYE!"

Mom and Dane.

Uncle A.J. and Aunt Kim.

Uncle A.J. and fun aunt Marta - looking good!

Funcle B and Great Grandma Moggy!

Dane and dad! Mike you look dashing!

Funcle B and Aunt Erica. You guys make this look good!

Uh oh. Daddy's showing Dane how to hit the pinata.

Dane figured it out pretty fast!

And here is where Dane was "blindfolded" to make it harder.

And although a few of the girls got to take a whack at this thing, we let Marianne do the honors. She did it with one hard hit! NICE!

And there is Granddaddy Ralph with the remnants on his head!

Cousin Courtney and Great Grandma Moggy looking good!

Funcle Doug, Mike, Dane and Granddaddy Ralph.

Dane is surrounded by his lady followers. :)

Cousin Katie and Dillon. Nice bangs!

Daddy took Dane for a "ride" on the Dalcorp golf cart. I think Dane likes cars:)

Cousin Linsday holding Cooper Piepgrass. Cooper was representing the Piepgrass Family! She did a great job:)

Uh oh. Here is Dane looking rather comfortable in the Chevelle. Yikes!

Aunt Erica and Funcle B - so cuuuuuuute...

The hot chicks!

Mike and Doug. Having a gay old time. HA!

Dane loved watching mom blow out the candles...

...I think because he knew that eating the cake was next!

Look at the size of that bite!

IS THIS PERFECTION?!

Dane was elated. He couldn't believe that this was all his! Of course, I had to remove a lot of the cake from his tray quickly due to the fact that he would have eaten it in three bites!

The birthday boy!

One of Dane's favorite things to do right now is point at everything!

Uncle Mark playing in the kiddie pool. Go figure!

Granddaddy Ralph and Dane - just hangin' out.

Dane! Hit the gas!

This boy is going to go really fast.

Like father like son? Look at those profiles!

THE PRESENTS. WOW!

Uncle A.J. and Uncle Mark. Dane couldn't stop looking at them!

The opening of the presents.

I think one of our favorite gifts was Uncle Mark's red car. We can't wait to set it up!

Dane and dad in the '59 Caddy. Lookin' good!

Mike and Kristy ending the party with an "ADIOS AMIGOS!"

And God created the blog and saw that it was good.

Well, it's been a while since my last post, but I can assure you we'll be back on track in no time. The past month and a half has been a whirlwind and it's only getting crazier!

Dane's acquired many new talents these last 6 weeks, the funniest one being his affinity for scooting. Yes, most babies grow fond of the crawling technique as it seems to be the most effective way for them to get themselves into trouble, and fast. Dane on the other hand has taken a liking to scooting. He scoots around our hard wood floors like he's got a caboose rigged with a jet engine! This child needs brakes, people!

In other news, Dane's best baby friend Rogan was baptized on April 27. Dane had an awesome time at the celebration fiesta afterwards and says he might've eaten a little too much guacamole. Mom agrees as she was the one who changed his diaper:) That said, congratulations, Rogan!

Mother's Day was a delight. Although Dane was quite ill and hacking up a baby lung, he was in good spirits. Since things have been hectic, we decided to stay up here in L.A. instead of going to San Diego to visit Nana and Granddad; however, Dane sent a care package with some goodies for Mother's Day. Nana got a paraffin wax kit, a classical music CD and a "Mom" picture frame with a pic of Dane and Mike. Hope you enjoyed it, Nana! I received some beautiful gifts, too, I might add. Mike gave me a pair of beautiful pearl earrings and Dane gave me a big hug. We had a yummy waffle breakfast, went to church to watch great grandma Mahgy in the Pentecost production, then headed over to grandma and grandpa's house for lunch. It was a relaxing time, but Dane was ready to head home after a long day of play. Of course, he fell asleep hard only to wake up again at midnight with a fever. He's still fighting this illness (and now so am I), but he's getting a little better every day. My poor baby!

Here are a few pictures of the last couple months so you can see what's been going on. Oh, and Dane has 6 teeth now! Oh, and if you want to see my dad's blog to check out what's been going on with the race team, go to Dalcorp Racing . (Shameless plug, I know.)

Here are Dane and Rogan having play time - best buds!

Dane playing in front of his new toy organizer. Thank you, Target!

Dane and dad are playing ball!

Dane just missed the catch and thinks it's hilarious!

My sweet little boy takes a rest after a long day of being sick:(

Still sick, but always trying to stand up. He's done it by himself a few times now!

Here he is mid scoot.
