April Showers Bring...More Blogs

As I said, April was a full month, so I'll waste no time getting on with the news...

The week after Easter was rather gloomy, so I decided to head over to Art Soup with the kids to give them a little creative time. Turns out, every other mom had the same idea and it was a bit crowded. Go figure! The kids still had a great time getting messy and making art projects, but we didn't last too long before it was time to make like a baby and head out.

The weekend of April 14th, Mike decided to take the kids on an impromptu camping trip. He did pick one of the coldest weekends in a while, but nevertheless, handled it like a champ! We packed up the kids with every single thing you can imagine. Anyone with small children knows that you have to pack about three times as much if you're going to be prepared. You can see in the pictures that the truck is busting at the seams...just for a one night stay! Anyway, the boys had a WONDERFUL time and did lots of guy things. They roasted dogs and mallows over the fire, hiked, drank beer...oh wait, that was just Mike I think. They enjoyed themselves so much. Mike said this trip was one of his top three:) That's saying a lot for an Eagle Scout who's done a lot of camping!

The weekend of the 21st, I went up to LA to help put on a bridal shower for my friends. It was a lot of fun planning this shower as I had free reign to do whatever I wanted. Thanks, Tu and Chau! I brought Ryan up with me and Dane stayed back with Mike as he had baseball. My parents watched Ryan as I headed to the shower, and dad got some absolutely BEAUTIFUL pictures of Ryan while I was gone. Thanks, dad!

I headed back down to SD the morning of the 22nd because we had tickets to the Padres game. Dane and Mike got to go onto the field in a parade before the game! How cool is that?! Our friends, the Bridgewaters (Wayne, Sarah, Devon and Christopher) joined us for the game and we had such a nice time. Sarah and I took the kids down to the playground after a few innings had passed to get their sillies out. Afterwards they got cotton candy...the highlight for them, I'm sure:)

Anyway, I've talked enough! Check out our photos!

"Ahh duuuhhh."

Art is serious business.

Okay, this place has a VW Bug that the kids can paint. I can't even imagine how many layers of paint this thing has!

Had to throw in Dane's first report card. Ready for Kindergarten!

Dad made a cardboard dragster for Dane. This thing is COOL!

All packed up for the camping trip! Mind you, this truck was LOADED for one night! HA! Camping with kids is no joke.

"Dad, are you sure we have everything?"

"Huh?"

The camp site! Coooollllld....

I love this picture.

Roastin' dowgs on the fahr.

Nice hat, Dane.

"Dad, are you sure I can eat this?" S'mores!

Now that's a motley crew!

Daddy made sure they were warm. Brrrr!
Best camping trip ever...

Ryan's a happy boy on our way up to Gamma and Papa's.

The bridal shower setup. Not bad! Anyone need my services just email me!:)
I loved making these little wine corsages!

There's Chau getting ready for the guests to arrive!

While I was showerin', Ryan was hosin'! It was such a pretty day!

Ryan's signature move - chugging hose water, then following that up with a VERY wet diaper.

It's MOW time!
Now it's time to fill random containers with water.

Havin' a PB & J before the Padres game. We're waiting for dad and Dane to walk in the parade!

Doin' some climbin'...

There they are!

Where's Waldo?
Christopher is not playin' around...

Neither is Devon. Baseball is serious business, people!

I love this picture of Sarah! And Wayne is in the background figuring out his new, fancy camera:)
Here are the boys, hoping that the Padres don't stink too bad today!

We got to be there for military opening day - good stuff!

Time to burn off some steam at the playground.

Lest you be confused, Dane is on the Rangers in his league and he had to wear that to the game to be in the parade. We ARE officially Padres fans...although, this season, I'm willing to consider other alternatives.

Time for cotton candy!

Waiting patiently.
Time tooooooooo, say gooooodniiiiiiight....

What are YOU lookin' at?

Even in his extremely exhausted state he pulls out a pretty good wink.

Mike, on the other hand... :)
