A few weeks ago, Mike and I found a place we wanted to rent in Carlsbad. It's always been our dream to live in North County San Diego, and now that we had decided to rent, it was a dream, realized! We decided that Mike would start moving our stuff down after the baby was born, and then once I'd gotten my routine down with the baby, I'd move down with the boys. Well, that time came quickly and my parents came down with us on March 18 to help move some stuff. Luckily, Mike, his brother Mark and his father Ralph had already moved the majority of our things into the house. There was just a lot of unpacking to do! After unpacking a little with my parents (and taking some pictures of the occasion, of course), we came back to the Nocita's for a few more days to pack up the rest of our stuff.
In the meantime, my grandmother Margaret Davis and my aunt Colleen Heublein made history (again) when they finished the Los Angeles Marathon on March 21. After officials cleared up some mistakes in the results (one of which was an 83 year old woman finishing in 4 hrs and 40 min. - yeah right!), it was clear that Moggy had won the race. Upon hearing this news, not one of us was surprised. As a matter of fact, I think our family has almost grown accustomed to this "old lady's" adventures, to the point where it's almost expected she win. "Moggy won the marathon? Oh that's so cool! When's dinner?" Yeah...pretty good for an 87 year old! Congratulations, Moggy and Colleen! Here's to all of us NOT being shocked by your amazing accomplishments! HA!
A few days later, it was time for us to pack up and move out of the Nocita household. It was a teary sendoff, but an exciting one as well. Mike would no longer have to commute from San Diego to Sierra Madre, we would be 4 miles from the beach, and I'd finally get to nest:) Our first night in Carlsbad, Mike and I took the kids to our favorite sushi place in North County called Ogata. It's where Mike introduced me to sushi and where we went on some of our very first dates! It was so wonderful to be back there to enjoy it with Dane and Ryan. Dane chowed down his California Roll like a champ, of course. He's his father's son...
This past week has been a lot of fun settling into our new home together. It's taken some time for Dane to get used to sleeping in his own bed again, though. He's had some rough nights, but it's getting better each night! I also happened to get this great video of Dane chatting about the "blood on his hand." Ah yes...boys. Here's another video that Kimmy took of Dane "playing baseball" in my parents' back yard. Make sure to watch to the end!
